Today I can’t wait to share 🌙 Fleur de Lune by L’Artisan Parfumeur — a limited-edition fragrance inspired by Chinese legends and the delicate bloom of osmanthus. Sweet apricot nuances, jasmine sambac, and soft suede create an enchanting composition with a heart of osmanthus blossoming under the moonlight. This new release from L’Artisan Parfumeur is a scent for those who cherish the magic of the night air and the refined harmony between ancient tradition and modern perfume artistry.

Fleur de Lune is like osmanthus petals slowly swirling in the air — a moon flower releasing its most divine and secret fragrance beneath the soft glow of the night sky. According to the brand, this limited edition by Alexandra Monet was created as an ode to ancient Chinese traditions, where for centuries osmanthus flowers have been tenderly cultivated and harvested. During the harvest, the shrubs are gently shaken over large linen cloths — this age-old ritual became the source of inspiration for the perfume.

The perfumer sought to unite two opposing facets of the scent — the rich absolute and the transparent infusion, like Yin and Yang. The absolute, complex and full-bodied, reveals leathery and fruity undertones that bring sensuality and depth. To balance this density and evoke the freshness of the real flower, she added notes of Chinese magnolia and exquisite jasmine sambac, illuminated by orange blossom and delicate green shades. Together, they create a fragrance where sensuality meets softness — where dense matter turns into a silk cloud reminiscent of osmanthus flowers used to perfume refined Chinese teas.
Alexandra Monet also shared glimpses of her creative process and the legends that inspired her. According to Chinese mythology, on certain nights the goddess Chang’e sprinkles the earth with a rain of shimmering, translucent petals — a quiet sign of her care and presence. Another ancient story tells of Wu Gang, condemned to endlessly cut down the great osmanthus tree on the moon, which grows back every night — a symbol of immortality and the eternal cycle of life, much like the myth of Sisyphus.

“These stories inspired me to create this symbolic flower, deeply rooted in the Chinese soul,” says Alexandra Monet.
Perhaps that’s why the scent of osmanthus feels especially alive at night, when the air is cool and the moonlight becomes its ally. Its fragrance is sweet, deep, and slightly spicy, with velvety tones of ripe apricot and a subtle bitterness of its skin. This contrast makes it vibrant, multidimensional, and truly mesmerizing.
Fleur de Lune captures that fleeting moment when the moon touches the flowers and they begin to glow from within, exhaling a fragrance that feels like light itself. Yet the blooming of osmanthus is short-lived — to me, this autumnal flower resembles the delicate sakura of spring, whose petals fall with the first rain. Osmanthus blossoms at the beginning of October, a time when Asia often rests under gentle showers.
In Fleur de Lune, osmanthus forms the heart of the composition — refined, living, and woven from floral, fruity, and leathery nuances. Its fragrance seems born from a legend, merging ancient mythology with the contemporary art of perfumery in a single breath.
Main notes: osmanthus, fruity notes, saffron, Chinese magnolia, green notes, jasmine sambac, orange blossom, suede.
Fleur de Lune is already available on the official L’Artisan Parfumeur website at a price of €195.
